Mastercard is seeking WashU students for a spring 2027 Research & Development co-op at its St. Louis Tech Hub in O'Fallon, Missouri. The position is with Mastercard Foundry, the company's innovation group, where researchers and engineers explore how artificial intelligence, machine learning, quantum computing, and privacy-preserving systems are changing the way people pay and do business. Co-op students will spend the semester turning classroom knowledge into working prototypes, contributing to real projects, and presenting their results to Mastercard's technical and business leaders.
The co-op is a full-time, paid position running from January through May 2027. It is open to students pursuing a bachelor's or accelerated master's degree in engineering, data science, or a related field who expect to graduate between December 2027 and June 2028. Strong candidates will be comfortable with programming fundamentals, algorithms and data structures, testing, and version control tools such as Git, and will enjoy tackling open-ended technical problems.
